Manisha Sinha is Professor of American History at the University of Connecticut and author of The Slave’s Cause: A History of Abolition. Ebony Elizabeth Thomas is Associate Professor of Literacy, Culture and International Education with the Graduate School of Education at University of Pennsylvania and co-editor of Reading African American Experiences in the Obama Era: Theory, Advocacy, Activism.
