the_national_symphony_Formed by the Council of Ministers of Ukraine in November of 1918, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine is considered to be one of the finest symphony orchestras in Eastern Europe.  The Orchestra has gained international recognition over a remarkably short period of time. After an appearance in Moscow, Dimitri Shostakovich commented: “This orchestra has as distinguished a group of performers as one would be likely to find anywhere. The ensemble of the orchestra is of the highest level. In addition, the various soloists and instrumental groups within the Orchestra play exceptionally and complement each other beautifully – as would the greatest of the world’s symphony orchestras.”

Program: Sergei Rachmaninoff – Symphony No. 3 (37’) (B. 1873 in Semyonovo -D. 1943 in Beverly Hills) -Intermission- Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – Violin Concerto (35’) (B. 1840 in Votkinsk-D. 1893 in St. Petersburg) Violin Soloist: Dima Tkachenko  Igor Stravinsky – Suite from the Ballet “The Firebird” (1919) (21’) (B. 1882 in Oranienbaum -D. 1971 in New York)

Cost: Tickets are $35, $30, $25; and Children 12 & under $10 any seat
