Hamilton Grange National Memorial

4/27/1962: Hamilton Grange, the home of Alexander Hamilton was authorized as a National Memorial on this day.   The house was named “The Grange” after Hamilton’s grandfather’s estate in Scotland. The Grange was built on 32 acres in Hamilton Heights, Harlem.  It was the only home ever owned by Hamilton and it remained in his family for 30 years after his death.
