3/6/1857: U.S. Supreme Court issues Dred Scott decision. Dred Scott v. Sandford was a landmark decision which the Supreme Court held that African Americans (enslaved or free) could not be American citizens, therefore had no standing to sue in federal court. Dred Scott was a slave from Missouri. #onthisday
